With its focus on laidback luxury, and its flexible accommodation and dining options, this intimate beachside property is an enviable grown-up hideaway.
Mango House is the epitome of modern luxury, which recognises that the greatest indulgence of all can be as simple as spending time with loved ones in beautiful, restful surroundings. It would be hard, in fact, to improve on the setting: on the scenic curve of Anse aux Poules Bleues, a sheltered bay with shallow clear waters and an alluring sweep of pale sand. The house at its heart was once the family property of a celebrated Italian photographer, and that chic-home-from-home sensation is in evidence throughout the resort. So, too, is the sense of place, with a Seychellois flavour to everything from the irresistible food to the thoughtful and discreet service.
Why we love Mango House Seychelles
-
It’s situated in a gorgeous sheltered bay that’s one of the best in this part of the island for relaxed swimming and paddling
-
‘Tailor-made for you’ is the order of the day everywhere but particularly in the secluded spa
-
There’s an excellent range of accommodation options, all with ocean views, from beach houses for two to a vast pool villa
-
The appealing culinary choices include toes-in-the-sand barbecues, poolside poke bowls and grown-up Japanese dining
Rooms
All 41 rooms, suites and villas, cleverly arranged around the richly scented tropical gardens, are spacious and immaculately designed, with the sea visible from every balcony and terrace. The décor is stylishly neutral – think white walls, neutral fabrics and blond wood – providing an unobtrusive backdrop to leisurely days. With 11 room types, everyone from couples and young families to larger groups will be able to tailor their accommodation to their precise needs. The King Premium Rooms, for instance, are ideal for two and have a balcony from which to admire the sunset. The Three Bedroom Bay House with Plunge Pool or Three Bedroom Ocean House with Pool have generous indoor and outdoor spaces.
Facilities
With three restaurants and two bars, one of which also serves food, the culinary experience at Mango House is anything but dull.
Muse
At the main restaurant, an irresistible à la carte breakfast gives way to an all-day menu of Italian and Mediterranean-inspired dishes made with seasonal local ingredients.
Azido
The focus at Azido is Japanese cuisine with a modern touch, from freshly made sushi to delicacies from the grill. Close to the beach, it’s a stylish spot for dinner.
Moutya
Right beside the beach, this rustic eatery – open daily from 4pm – conjures up irresistible Creole-flavoured seafood, grilled chicken and burgers from its barbecue. Tables complete with hand-painted chess, draughts or backgammon boards make it even more tempting to linger.
Soley
Next to the pool, you’ll find cocktails, poke bowls and build-your-own bento boxes from 10am until early evening.
Kokoye
Settle into a lounge chair overlooking the bay at the resort’s chic evening-only Tuesday-to-Saturday cocktail bar. Signature drinks include a grown-up gin tea martini and a stylish five-spice rum sour.
Don’t miss dining at Azido, the resort’s superb Japanese restaurant where the sushi rolls are delectable works of art.

With ocean views from its treatment room balconies, Anpe (‘at peace’ in Creole) bills itself as a wellness sanctuary, where everything is about connections: to the landscape, to nature and to your own centre. Therapies are tailored to the client, and feature island ingredients prepared by a local atelier. Wellness sessions, including yoga and meditation classes, take place in a pavilion overlooking the water. There are several fitness options, including a 24-hour gym with Technogym cardio and strength-training equipment, plus free weights. There are also group workout classes, such as spin, and personal trainers on hand to create a schedule just for you. If you prefer to exercise outdoors, you can join an organised hike along the coast, rent a bicycle or book a round of golf on a nearby course.
The resort team at Soul Seychelles can arrange private dives and certification courses. Non-motorised water sports such as snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are available from the pop-up beach centre.
The products in the spa are made especially for Mango House by local artisans and feature a range of healing island plants. Many of the building materials, such as the granite cladding and the structural timbers, come from the Seychelles. The beachside barbecue at Moutya is powered by sustainable charcoal made from coconut shells. Single-use plastics have been almost entirely eliminated throughout the property.
Guests over 13 years will be welcome at this resort.

Chipping Ongar, United KingdomDecember 2024
We had two nights here on seperate occasions for flights in and out of Mahe ,booked through Centurion. On both occasions we spent far too long checking in while the reception stared at their computer , it as hot too. No welcome letter to us as Centurion members, however we did have a comfortable room even though on both times the rooms were at the very top end and then at the very bottom, a long way to the restaurant . Spacious rooms , good bathroom but not as clean as they should be . However what made everything worse was the dreadful restaurant service and total lack of understanding gluten ( despite telling the in advance ) at both breakfast and dinner. They just didn’t get it ! At breakfast I asked five times for gluten free bread toasted and I then walked towards the kitchen to chase up the chef ( Fawlty Towers style!) only then did it arrive. Its not an independent hotel and is part of the Hilton chain and as they are pretty useless too I can understand why Mango is poor.

Set in beautifully laid out grounds overlooking the bay and with The House as the central hub. 3 pools and small beaches. Suites (we had an upper level with veranda) are very spacious and well appointed with large his and hers basins, huge walk in shower (slippery floor) and lots of wardrobe space. Hair conditioner is not very good though. As you would expect, selections of teas and coffees and lots o complimentary water. If you get a drink at the main pool bar you are brought snacks, fruit kebabs and a bottle of iced water with glasses in a cool bag. Japanese, Italian and Creole dining options, be sure to book, and Creole food particularly nice. Breakfast both a buffet and multiple hot options but at all times service is disorganise and breakfast hot options take an age to arrive. Never enough bread cut and cheese, meat and fish at breakfast not topped up as fast as is needed. Staff are lovely.

If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel with a relaxed feeling, this is the place to go. The views are simply stunning, especially from the main pool area. Rooms are big enough, the pool areas always have space and the staff is nice. The different restaurants offer everything from seafood to Japanese and Italian to burgers. Since it’s the Seychelles, you’ll be paying a lot for your lunch and dinner if you dine at the hotel (burger is $60). So prepare with a budget that goes beyond the room rates. We fell in love with the breakfast. You get to order small a la carte plates and everything was delicious. Probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve been to. We were promoted to make restaurant reservations through an LXR Concierge service beforehand but the staff at the hotel didn’t know anythint about it. So book the restaurants directly at the hotel. Also service at the pool was sometimes a little bit slow but otherwise the staff was great, especially at the breakfast and the nice little cocktail bar upstairs of the main building.
